P2-million shabu seized in Quezon City buy-bust

- Non Alquitran -

MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested yesterday two suspected members of a drug syndicate in a buy-bust operation in Quezon City, that yielded a kilo of shabu worth P2 million.

Director Alan Purisima, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief, identified the suspects as Benigno Rapsing, 27, of 750 Cebu street in Sampaloc, Manila and Kelvin Tan Yu, alias Kelvin Cabuso, 25, of San Roque, Tarlac City.

Purisima said Rapsing and Yu were arrested at the corner of P. Florentino street and Mayon street in Barangay Theresa after handing over three packs of shabu to a police poseur-buyer at around 3:30 a.m.

Superintendent Richard de la Rosa, chief of the NCRPOs regional police intelligence and operation unit (RPIOU), said they agreed to purchase a kilo of shabu from the suspects in exchange for P2 million.

Tan and Rapsing arrived in the area on board a silver Nissan Teana with license plate ZJJ-960 and white and red Mazda (ZEG- 859).

De la Rosa said they also confiscated the suspects’ vehicles, cellular phones, the P2 million “boodle” money and Yu’s .38 caliber pistol which was found to be properly documented and has a permit to carry firearms outside residence.

Inspector Virgilio Santiago, the RPIOU’s team leader, said they are now conducting follow-up operations to get other members of the drug syndicate where Yu and Rapsing belong.

Purisima ordered the filing of appropriate charges against Yu and Rapsing, who are detained at the RPIOU detention cell in Camp Bagong Diwa in Bicutan, Taguig City.
