Gatchalian gives service vehicles to cops, disaster teams

- Pete Laude -

MANILA, Philippines - Valenzuela City Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian assured his constituents yesterday that the city government will continue investing in their safety and security as it provided more vehicles for the local police force and the city’s disaster teams.

Gatchalian said he wanted to boost the morale of his police officers through the continued enhancement of their crime-fighting capability.

“We also want to strengthen the local disaster management program so that Valenzuela City will always be ready to respond in case of calamity and other emergencies,” the mayor said.

According to Ahna Mejia, Gatchalian’s public information officer, the local peace and order council, headed by Gatchalian as its chairman, turned over vehicles worth P8.9 million to the city police, the local disaster risk reduction and management council and the Barangay Palasan disaster risk reduction and management council.

She said that the local disaster council received two Toyota Grandia Rescue ambulances worth P1.9 million each, while the local police received two Isuzu D-Max pick-up trucks worth P903,000 each and three Isuzu Crosswinds, each worth P833,700. Barangay Palasan was given an P850,000 Suzuki APV ambulance.

City police chief Senior Superintendent Wilben Mayor in recognizing the local government’s support in their effort in maintaining peace and order in Valenzuela said that they would reciprocate it with “100 percent” commitment in protecting the city residents.
