MANILA, Philippines - A detainee at the Quezon City Jail caused a commotion after he climbed a wall until he reached ceiling of the facility at around midnight yesterday.
Ricardo Buscano, 37, has always been a “troublemaker” at the city jail, according to warden Superintendent Joseph Vela.
Vela said Buscano is facing murder charges and had repeatedly challenged fellow inmates to fights in the past.
Late night on Friday, Buscano reportedly again challenged a fellow detainee but was immediately pacified by jail guards.
Vela said Buscano was told to momentarily stay at an area near the jail’s desk officer at the compound’s basketball court but while there, he reportedly scaled the jail’s beams until he reached the ceiling.
Jail authorities called up a rescue team from the Bureau of Fire Protection, who managed to bring him down about an hour later.
According to Vela, Buscano had been brought to mental health facilities, which denied him admission because they deemed he did not suffer from a psychological disorder.
