Fetus clogs up toilet

- Nestor Etolle -

MANILA, Philippines - A male fetus was found in a toilet bowl in a women’s restroom in a building in Ermita, Manila, police reported yesterday.

Arnel Payra, 44, maintenance man of the Merchant Building located at the corner of Padre Faura and Mabini streets discovered the fetus, estimated to be at least five months old, when he tried to fix a clogged toilet bowl on the second floor of the building.

The comfort room is for the exclusive use of visitors in the building, according to case investigator SPO1 Charles John Duran.

Payra told police, janitress Maritess Mantong asked him to unclog the toilet because it cannot be flushed. He said he found the fetus in the hole when he removed the toilet bowl. Duran said the fetus sustained multiple bruises.
