Marikina relaunches shoe museum

MANILA, Philippines - The city government of Marikina relaunched yesterday its shoe museum, putting over 1,000 pairs of shoes on display.

The highlight of the event was the opening of the Shoe-per Star Alley featuring shoes from 49 famous personalities from different fields such as politics, sports, arts, entertainment, music, philanthropy, business, news and current affairs, fashion and beauty, and religion, who supported the city’s primary industry.

“Through the Shoe-per Star Alley, we can show them our appreciation on their continuous help and support to the city’s primary industry. They helped make Marikina as the Shoe Capital of the Philippines,” Mayor Del de Guzman said.

The 49 personalities are former First Lady Imelda Marcos, former President Fidel Ramos, former President Joseph Estrada, Sen. Aquilino Pimentel Jr., Sen. Gringo Honasan, Manny Pacquiao, Paeng Nepomuceno, Eugene Torre, Cornelio Padilla Jr., Chelsea Bernasconi, Fernando Josef, Remy Boquiren, Abdul Mari Asia Imao, Lav Diaz, Lisa Macuja, Agot Isidro, Jericho Rosales, German Moreno, Edgar Mortiz, Cristine Reyes, Raimund Marasigan, Simeona Chanyungco, Jeffrey Hidalgo, April Boy Regino, Gary Valenciano, Dandy Gomez, Rosa Rosal, Tony Meloto, Bolok Santos, Dharma Master Cheng Yen, Henry Sy Sr., George Ty, Lucio Tan, John Gokongwei Jr., Exequiel Robles, Cheche Lazaro, Rhea Santos, Tina Monzon Palma, Charo Santos Concio, Ariel Villasanta, Ricky Reyes, Shamcey Supsup, Patis Tesoro, Tessa Prieto, Angel Aquino, Apostol Arsenio Ferriol, Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales, Eduardo Manalo, and Eddie Villanueva.

The shoe museum is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. The entrance fee is P50 per person.
