MANILA, Philippines - Practically no crimes happened during the airing of the 12-round title fight between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported yesterday.
PNP spokesman Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said everything virtually stood still starting at 1 p.m. when the two fighters went into the ring.
“The PNP, however, recorded three crime incidents in the entire country just hours before the fight,” Cruz added.
Reports reaching the National Operations Center in Camp Crame disclosed that a remittance center in Catbalogan, Samar was robbed at around 12:35 p.m.
A Canadian tourist was victimized by thieves at the Cultural Center of the Philippines complex at around 11:50 a.m., and a motorcycle was stolen while parked at the Del Pan Sports Center in Manila at around 11:10 a.m.
Elsewhere in the country, police regional offices reported zero crimes during the bout.
