8 hurt in bus mishap

- Mike Frialde -

MANILA, Philippines - At least eight passengers were injured after the bus they were riding collided with another commuter bus at the intersection of EDSA and Ayala Avenue in Makati City yesterday morning.

Edward Gonzales, head of the Emergency Road Rescue Unit of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), identified those injured as Henry Lukban, 56; Brian Polequin, 21; Jan Mark Caringal, 27; Karen Joy Florentino, 26; Jim Carlo Lorales, 24; May Isabel, 28; Lorraine Rosquetta, 25; and Josephine Flores, 45. They were all rushed to the Ospital ng Makati in Malugay.

The MMDA said those injured were passengers of a Jell Transport bus (TXG-963) that rear-ended a Jasper bus (TYI-381) at about 7:40 a.m. The accident caused a massive traffic jam that slowed the south-bound traffic as far as Kamuning in Quezon City.
