Ramona faces raps for obstruction of justice
MANILA, Philippines - For reporting a false kidnapping to the Las Piñas police, Ramona Bautista faces charges for obstruction of justice.
Senior Superintendent Romulo Sapitula, Las Piñas police chief, told The STAR that they consulted the Las Piñas City prosecutor’s office and the recommendation was for them to file a case for obstruction of justice.
He said they were told that Ramona cannot be charged for perjury because the statement she gave the police was not subscribed or made under oath.
Chief Inspector Enrique Sy, Ramgen Task Force commander, said they would coordinate with the Las Piñas police for the filing of the case.
Ramona, who has been charged with murder and frustrated murder for the killing of her elder brother Ram Revilla (real name Ramgen Bautista), earlier said he was killed by a gunman wearing a Halloween mask and that his attacker dragged her into van and left her at a mall along Zapote Alabang Road in Las Piñas.
She later said she lied about being kidnapped because she was ashamed leaving Ramgen and his girlfriend Janelle Manahan after the attack.
