Half of NCR barangays have Botika ng Barangay outlets

- Sheila Crisostomo -

MANILA, Philippines - Half of the barangays in Metro Manila now have Botika ng Barangay (BnB) outlets seven years after the Department of Health (DOH) launched the program.

Dr. Eduardo Janairo, director of the DOH for Metro Manila, BnB can be found in 846 of the 1,705 barangays in the metropolis. He said the BnB was intended to “promote equity in health by ensuring the availability and accessibility of affordable and essential, safe and effective quality medicines to all.”

Before a BnB can be put up, a prospective operator has to apply with the DOH as the latter wants to make sure that only qualified individuals will be involved in the program.
