Store owner killed, sister hurt in heist

MANILA, Philippines - A grocery store owner was killed and his sister was injured during a robbery in Taytay, Rizal Thursday night.

Senior Superintendent Manuel Prieto said two robbers barged into the store of Rodolfo Macinas II, 29, in Barangay Sta. Ana. Macinas’ wife, Helen, handed over the day’s earnings to the robbers, who shot Macinas when he went into the store. Macinas’ sister, Carmelita, was also shot when she embraced her brother.

One of the robbers was killed during a running gun-battle with police officers. Prieto has ordered a manhunt for the other robber, who escaped.
