3 killed in Las Piñas fire

MANILA, Philippines -  Three persons were killed in a five-hour fire along Marcos Alvarez Avenue at Moonwalk Subdivision in Barangay Talon 2, Las Piñas City before dawn yesterday.

Fire Officer 3 Joelbert Escubillo told The STAR that firemen recovered three burned bodies in the compound early yesterday morning.

A police report identified the victims as Michael Wong; his daughter Shiela, 20; and a certain Ben.

The report said the fire broke out around 1 a.m. at the automotive shop owned by the victim. An overcharged car battery was said to have caused the blaze.

The Bureau of Fire Protection declared the fire under control at around 7 a.m.
