Bus runs over woman in Valenzuela

MANILA, Philippines - A woman may lose both legs after she was run over by a bus while crossing the highway at dawn yesterday in Valenzuela City.

Lorena Baclayon, 27, was crossing MacArthur Highway when a Monumento-bound bus sideswiped her at around 6:20 a.m. She fell to the pavement, and the bus’ rear wheels crushed her legs, Senior Police Officer 2 Albert Verrano said.

Doctors at the National Orthopedic Center recommended that both of Baclayon’s legs be amputated.

Witnesses failed to jot down the name of the passenger bus but managed to get the plate number (PSY-834) as the bus sped on.
