Man nabbed for rape of former SK leader
MANILA, Philippines - One of two men accused of raping a former chairwoman of the Sangguniang Kabataan was arrested Sunday night by members of the Manila Police District (MPD) Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk.
Jayvee Ignacio, 27, was identified by the 20-year-old victim as one of the men who raped her in her friend’s house on Zafiro street in San Andres Bukid, Manila. Police officers have launched a manhunt for the other suspect, Ramon Pinlac, 28.
The victim said she and several of her friends attended a wake Friday night, and she accepted an invitation from her friend to sleep over in her house. The victim said she slept in her friend’s room while others in the house were drinking.
At around 2 a.m. Saturday, the victim said she woke up in pain and found Pinlac was allegedly raping her. She said she tried to fight Pinlac off and saw Ignacio masturbating beside her.
The commotion awakened a member of the household, who entered the room and turned on the lights. The victim said she saw Ignacio hurriedly put on his shorts and leave the room, while Pinlac pretended to be asleep beside her. When Pinlac left, the victim asked around for her alleged rapists’ identities.
Ignacio denied the rape charge and claimed that the “threesome” sex was consensual and they were all drunk at the time.
