- Reinir Padua -

MANILA, Philippines - A 13-year-old girl’s leg was crushed after sheets of plywood fell on her from a 10-wheeler truck that lost its brakes in Quezon City yesterday morning.

Police said Maria Jolina Delaran, who was on her way to school, was among the five people hurt when Lannyboy Anahao lost control of a Woodplaza Corp. truck he was driving along San Mateo Road in Batasan Hills at around 6 a.m.

The truck hit two lampposts and five houses before it stopped.

While no one was run over by the truck, the plywood boards hit Ma. Sonia Dadula, 46; her son, Jovie Rosa Dadula, 11; Norberto Estrera, 57; and Ronnel Sisi, 57.

Police Officer 3 Nicanor Joven said the victims were brought to East Avenue Medical Center, where doctors had to amputate Delaran’s leg.
