1 dead, 300 families homeless in Parañaque blaze

MANILA, Philippines - A woman died while 300 families were rendered homeless in a three-hour fire in Parañaque City Thursday night. The fatality was identified as Joselyn Esmaela, 53, who suffered a heart attack because of panic after seeing her house destroyed.

 Fire Officer 3 Vicente Aurellano of Parañaque City Fire Station said the fire started around 11:32 p.m. in Sitio Libho, Barangay Sto Niño. The cause of the fire is still under investigation but authorities pegged the damages to P3 million.
