MANILA, Philippines - A woman gave birth to a baby boy on board a Philippine Airlines flight from Manila to San Francisco on Monday (Tuesday in Manila).

Aida Alamillo gave birth with the assistance of three nurses and several cabin crewmembers, led by flight steward Francis Lloyd Lobo, PAL said in a statement. The baby was born prematurely at 35 weeks.

The boy had “good skin color,” flight purser Antonia Castañeda wrote in flight incident report. She said the baby “started to breastfeed” and gave a “loud cry.”

Alamillo and her child were brought to the Mills Peninsula Hospital in Burlingame. The PAL flight left Manila at 10:24 p.m. and arrived in San Francisco at 7:27 p.m. The actual time of birth was at 3:25 p.m. US time.
