MANILA, Philippines - Eight persons, including two women are facing multiple charges for allegedly beating a traffic policeman in Sta. Cruz, Manila Saturday afternoon.
Charged with direct assault, resisting arrest, robbery and physical injuries before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday were Rolando de la Cruz Sr., 59; Rolando de la Cruz Jr., 24; Sammy de Guzman, 31; Jellie Mondala, 33; Loraca Hernandez, 42; Salvador de Guzman, 56; Carlota Sulit, 25; and Jenny Santos, 54.
In his complaint-affidavit, Police Office 1 Donato Tabinas said he was manning traffic at the intersection of Rizal Avenue corner Tayuman street when he arrested Dela Cruz for traffic violation. Dela Cruz resisted arrest and along with his co-accused and other unidentified persons, ganged up on Tabinas and disarmed him of his service pistol.
