Man, 2 sons charged for cop's slay

MANILA, Philippines -    A father and his two sons were charged with murder for attacking a police officer who tried to stop them from running amuck in Barangay BF Homes, Paranaque City Saturday night.

Police Officer 2 Arnel Napuli, 31, was declared dead on arrival at the San Juan de Dios Hospital after sustaining a hack wound in the head and a stab wound in the chest.

Napuli of Paranaque Police Precinct 5 was about to sleep when barangay peacekeeper Christopher Sioso fetched him from his house at about 11:15 p.m. to seek his help.

Sioson said Leodigario Adoptante, 56, and sons Edgardo, 24, and Owen, were on a rampage after their contestant lost in a local beauty pageant.

Pastoral said the Adoptantes attacked Napuli when the policeman arrived at the scene. Edgardo and Owen were arrested but Leodigario escaped.
