German found dead in hotel room

MANILA, Philippines - The bloated body of a German national was discovered inside the toilet of his room on the second floor of Victoria Mansion in Malate Thursday afternoon.

Police identified the body through his passport as that of Jurgen Harder Albrecht Bruno, 69, of Berlin, Germany.

PO3 Alonzo Layugan said the hotel staff received a call from a certain Hanz Joaquin inquiring about the condition of the victim since the former’s text messages and calls were unanswered.

Layugan said the victim’s room showed no signs of forcible entry. There were several packs of medicine scattered on the table. Records showed that the German was a regular customer of the hotel for almost eight years. He was last seen alive on Aug. 30 after he went shopping for groceries.
