MMDA: Take alternate routes for Sunday's Alay Lakad

- Mike Frialde -

MANILA, Philippines - The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has advised motorists to take alternate routes and avoid streets in Manila that will be affected by the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit’s “Alay Lakad Para sa Kabataan” tomorrow.

An estimated 500,000 to 800,000 are expected to attend the event, which will start at 4 a.m.

The north and southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard from Anda Circle to President Quirino, P. Burgos from Roxas Boulevard to Lagusnilad east and westbound, T.M. Kalaw from Roxas Boulevard to Taft Avenue east and westbound, and Ayala Boulevard corner Finance Road will be closed to vehicular traffic.

The MMDA is advising motorists coming from the southern part of Manila to instead take the stretch of Roxas Boulevard northbound. Vehicles are also advised to turn right at P. Ocampo or President Quirino, then take a left at Taft Avenue to their destination.

All public utility vehicles along A. Mabini street are advised to make a right turn to Pedro Gil or may either go straight and turn right to UN Avenue and make a left turn at Taft Avenue to their destination.

All vehicles coming from the northern part of Manila and intending to use the stretch of Roxas Boulevard southbound coming from Delpan Bridge-Pier Zone shall take A. Soriano, go straight to Magallanes Drive, make a right at P. Burgos straight to Lagusnilad (Taft Avenue) to their destination.

Meanwhile, all vehicles coming from the MacArthur, Jones, and Quezon bridges going to the southbound lane of Roxas Boulevard from P. Burgos shall go straight to Lagusnilad (Taft Avenue).

All vehicles coming from the three bridges intending to proceed to the Intramuros area shall turn right to Victoria street.

All cargo trucks, trailers, vans and other heavy-duty vehicles coming from Road 10 intending to cross Delpan Bridge shall be diverted to Capulong to point of destination.

The MMDA is also advising motorists to use the same route for their return trip.
