MANILA, Philippines - A local anti-dengue cleanup drive turned violent after the head watchman in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City was shot dead by the owner of a junk shop.

Raymundo Sibal, 52, reportedly accosted Arnaldo Robles, a retired soldier, over the recyclable materials in his junk shop, which could serve as breeding grounds for dengue-carrying mosquitoes.

Police arrested Robles and the person who reportedly hid him, retired policeman Constancio Pitagan.
