IACAT chief named to new task force

MANILA, Philippines -  Justice Secretary Leila de Lima has designated Undersecretary Jose Vicente Salazar, who heads the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT), as the Department of Justice representative to the Presidential Task Force Against Illegal Recruitment (PTFAIR).

The move is seen to strengthen the anti-human trafficking and anti-illegal recruitment efforts of the government by linking the IACAT and the PTFAIR for a more concerted action and closer coordination between the two units, as well as the other various agencies involved.

Most illegal recruitment cases also qualify as cases of human trafficking, which carries a harsher penalty.
