Posh pools in Muntinlupa to be inspected
MANILA, Philippines - At least three swimming pools in exclusive subdivisions in Muntinlupa City will be inspected today amid concerns over the 300 percent rise in dengue cases in their areas.
Omar Acosta, city public information chief, said the pools are in Ayala Alabang, Hillsborough Alabang and Alabang Hills.
“This is to show them that there is nothing wrong with inspecting their pools. That security is not a problem,” he said.
“We are just concerned also, because we immediately get criticized whenever someone gets sick from their village,” he added.
A team from the local sanitation office will lead the inspection, even as Acosta assured that Ayala Alabang is not being singled out.
Barangay Ayala Alabang earlier opposed the planned inspection in their area over “security reasons,” Instead, the barangay executives said they will be the one to ensure that stagnant pools have not become breeding grounds for dengue mosquito larvae.
The number of dengue cases in Ayala Alabang significantly jumped from August to September. Acosta said stagnant pools, grottos and ponds are possible culprits.
