De Lima revokes designation of deputy as BI supervisor

MANILA, Philippines - Justice Secretary Leila de Lima has revoked the designation of her undersecretary, Jose Vicente Salazar, as supervising official of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) and department representative to the Republic of the Philippines Border Committee (RPBC).

In Department Order 644, De Lima took the supervision of BI herself and named BI Associate Commissioner Siegfried Mison as the department’s representative to the RPBC.

Salazar earlier asked the DOJ chief to withdraw his designations.

In a two-page letter dated Aug. 11, he said that because President Aquino named four new high ranking officials to the BI, it will be for the best interest of the service that the BI commissioner, the associate commissioners and the executive director be given full supervision and control of their respective offices.
