Judge's SUV recovered in Pampanga

- Reinir Padua -

MANILA, Philippines - Policemen recovered in Pampanga Thursday night a judge’s sport utility vehicle (SUV) taken during a carjacking in front of her house in Quezon City last July 29.

Pasay Judge Racquelen Vasquez’s Mitsubishi Montero Sport was found at around 8 p.m. parked in Pandan, Angeles City outside the house of a certain Allan Villapana, whose relatives said they have seen him driving the Montero since Aug. 7.

Villapana was not at home when the SUV was found by intelligence officers of the Angeles City police and the Bataan provincial police, according to Superintendent Ferdinand Villanueva, chief of the Quezon City Police District’s anti-carnapping unit.

Two men had taken the SUV and shot dead Vasquez’s driver, Marlon Quiocho, in front of the judge’s residence in Barangay Tandang Sora. When it was found, the Montero Sport’s conduction stickers and license plates were missing. Policemen found a “16 NCR” license plate inside the car.

Meanwhile, Villanueva said two witnesses have identified Garry Ceriaco, 37; and Carlo Montalbo, 47, as the persons who allegedly took Vasquez’s Montero and killed Quiocho.

Ceriaco and Montalbo were with Erick Equila and Reynaldo Peralta when they were arrested at around 1 a.m. on Aug. 1 at a checkpoint in Barangay Lourdes, Quezon City after being accosted by police for driving a Toyota Innova with a missing license plate.

Following their arrest, policemen recovered a black Toyota Fortuner owned by Anthony de Vera at a garage in the city after one of the suspects admitted they stole the SUV in Mandaluyong City.
