2 boys nabbed for murder, rape in Caloocan

- Pete Laude -

MANILA, Philippines - Two 17-year-old boys, one facing a murder case and another accused of rape, were arrested in Caloocan City Friday.

Superintendent Remus Medina, Northern Police District intelligence chief, said Dan, second year high school student, was apprehended at around 9 a.m. in a school campus for allegedly killing another boy at a birthday party in September last year. Caloocan City Judge Raymund Vallega issued a warrant for Dan’s arrest last July 20.

Dan said Bornok became jealous after he talked to the victim’s girlfriend. He said Bornok attacked him with a knife, but he was able to grab the weapon and use it against him.

Dan said he is aware that he could not be jailed for the crime because he is still a minor but regretted the incident, saying he did not intend to kill the victim.

Police turned over Dan to the custody of the local social welfare personnel.

Another 17-year-old boy, identified only as Win, was arrested for allegedly raping his friend’s 19-year-old visitor in Caloocan City Thursday.

The victim told police she visited a friend in Barangay 18 and was invited by the latter to join a drinking bout with the suspect at around 4 p.m.

A few minutes after consuming her drink, she felt dizzy and decided to rest in her friend’s bedroom, where the suspect raped her. The victim sought help and Win was arrested at around 8 p.m. Friday.

Police Officer 1 Annabelle Gelle, of the Caloocan City police women and children protection unit, said Win was turned over to the custody of the city social welfare department.
