11 jueteng workers rounded up in Quezon City

- Reinir Padua -

MANILA, Philippines - At least 11 jueteng workers were nabbed in Tuesday’s raid of a house in Barangay Holy Spirit in Quezon City.

Quezon City Police District director Chief Superintendent George Regis said a certain Pining Garcia owns the house.

In an interview, the workers pointed to a certain Tony Santos as the alleged financier of their jueteng operations.

Superintendent Zacarias Noel Villegas, head of the special projects unit under Regis’ office, however, said the raided house was not the venue for the jueteng draw. “It was just an area where the collected bet money were brought,” he said.
