MANILA, Philippines - A 29-year-old seaman succumbed to 14 stab wounds inflicted by an enraged colleague in Sampaloc, Manila yesterday morning.
Bernardo Blanes died at the corner of Maria Cristina and S.H. Loyola streets, where Leopoldo Gallardo Jr., 36, finished him off.
Senior Police Officer 3 David Tuazon said the two men were boarders at 761 Don Quixote street, waiting for their job papers to be processed.
Tuazon said at around 7 a.m., while several boarders were having their breakfast at a burger joint, they noticed the two having a heated argument.
Gallardo turned over the table where they were eating and lunged at the victim with a knife. Blanes ran away but the suspect chased him and stabbed him repeatedly. Gallardo then fled, leaving the bended kitchen knife near the victim’s body.
