- Reinir Padua and Rainier Allan Ronda -

MANILA, Philippines - There will be no classes on all levels in Quezon City on Monday when President Aquino makes his State of the Nation Address, the city government announced yesterday.

Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista made the declaration to ensure the safety and security of students who will be affected by traffic jams amid rallies expected to be staged that day.

He also instructed the Quezon City Police District to observe maximum tolerance, especially in dispersing protest rallies during the SONA. The QCPD said it is ready in terms of manpower, logistics and security measures for the SONA.

The city government formed a logistics and human resource task force led by city public order and safety chief Elmo San Diego to back up police authorities during the SONA. A total of 6,806 policemen will be deployed in the city.
