MANILA, Philippines - Las Piñas City Mayor Vergel Aguilar has warned city residents against the possible upsurge of water and food-borne diseases like dengue, leptospirosis and diarrhea due to unpredictable and extreme weather conditions.
Aguilar particularly called on school heads, principals and teachers to make sure that food being served in school canteens is nutritious and clean, drinking fountain is safe and students are protected from sudden rainfall or extremely hot weather condition.
The mayor also urged civic organizations and residents to take part in the cleanliness drive implemented by the city government to guard against illnesses caused by flood waters, unsanitary surroundings or contaminated food.
