Store owner shot dead in Pasig
MANILA, Philippines - A businesswoman was shot between the eyes during a robbery inside her store in Pasig City on Tuesday.
Evelina Maranon, 46, was slumped in a chair and bloodied when her family members found her inside her store at No. 26B Cadena de Amor street corner De Castro street in Barangay Sta. Lucia at about 8 p.m. She was declared dead on arrival at the Mission Hospital.
Senior Superintendent Jesse Cardona, Pasig City police chief said Maranon was shot with a .45 caliber automatic pistol.
Cardona said a certain Lovely who tried to buy something from Maranon's store early Tuesday was the first to found out about the trader’s death. Lovely said she saw a man about 5’6” to 5’7” in height and wearing a brown jacket and maong pants hurriedly leaving the store and boarded a motorcycle and sped off towards East Bank Road.
Cardona said robbery could be the motive for the killing even as the police and the victim’s family members are still conducting an inventory of the missing items inside the store.
