Another woman loses car to carjackers
MANILA, Philippines - A manager of an international investment company lost her sport utility vehicle to four armed men yesterday.
City police chief Senior Superintendent Tomas Apolinario said Sherylyn Rapisura was about to park her Hyundai Tucson upon arriving at her home at 4 a.m. when the carjackers, armed with short firearms, knocked on her car door.
Chief Inspector Jenny Tecson said the carjackers then commanded Rapisura to drive up to Taguig City and even asked her to withdraw P46,000 from an ATM machine along Maya street Barangay Rizal in Makati City.
The robbers also took the victim’s laptop, cellular phone, and pieces of jewelries before they abandoned her along C-5 Palar area in Taguig City.
Apolinario said Rapisura was “very nervous” when she was giving her statement. The victim said her attackers were wearing baseball caps but hardly recognized them because they repeatedly warned her not to look at their faces.
The Rapisura carjacking incident took place nearly two weeks after government employee Teresita Teaño was shot dead in a carjacking incident in Quezon City.
