4 detainees bolt Pateros jail
MANILA, Philippines - Four detainees escaped from the custody of the Pateros town police station before dawn yesterday.
City police chief Senior Superintendent Daniel Macatlang said the detainees fled shortly before 5 a.m. after sawing through the steel bars of their cell located at the back of the municipal hall.
The escapees were identified as Antonio Reyes, Ruel Labios, Efren Constantino, and Timoteo Latera. They also brought with them a boy who was left by his parents at the police station for safekeeping, Macatlang said.
The four robbery suspects are still under the custody of the Pateros police station as they have yet to undergo inquest proceedings. Macatlang said a manhunt has already been launched for the detainees.
The jailbreak came nearly a week after several detainees escaped from the Department of Social Welfare and Development detention center in Muntinlupa City and youth home in Pasay City.
