Teaño carjack-slay gunman identified

- Reinir Padua -

MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has identified the man who shot dead government employee Teresita Teaño in a carjacking last week.

QCPD director Chief Superintendent George Regis told The STAR yesterday that a witness picked out the alleged gunman from a rogues’ gallery of convicted and accused carjackers.

“What we got was a very reliable witness, who gave a description that fit the photo of the suspect,” he said in an interview.

Chief Inspector Rodelio Marcelo, head of the QCPD’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said they will not identify the gunman pending his arrest.

Teaño, an employee at the Land Registration Authority, was shot by two men who took her Hyundai Accent in Barangay Kamuning on June 15. The carjackers ran over Teaño with her own car as they fled.
