Nationwide manhunt for carjack suspects underway

- Reinir Padua -

MANILA, Philippines - Authorities have launched a nationwide manhunt against the carjackers who victimized and killed government employee Teresita Teano earlier this week.

Chief Superintendent George Regis, director of the Quezon City Police District said yesterday they are not discounting the possibility that the suspects have left Metro Manila.

Regis said it is also possible that the brand-new Hyundai Accent stolen from Teano have been brought to a province.

He said they are coordinating with their counterparts in the provinces for the nationwide manhunt.

The Accent had been with Teano for only five days when two armed men stole it from her along Kamuning Road last Wednesday.

Teano, 54, was an employee at the Land Registration Authority. She was shot dead when she fought off the carjackers.

The victim also suffered a broken leg when the fleeing suspects ran over her with her own vehicle.

On Friday, the QCPD released the artist sketches of the two suspects in the brutal killing.
