QCPD: Teano carjackers a 'new group'
MANILA, Philippines - The men who took away the sedan of a woman, who was killed fighting off her attackers in Kamuning, could be part of a “new group” of carjackers, according to the head of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).
In an interview late Wednesday, QCPD director Chief Superintendent George Regis said the two still unidentified carjackers did not fit the profile of those from carjacking groups previously recorded.
The victim, Teresita Teano, 34, sustained a gunshot wound in the right cheek and right upper arm in the incident early morning on Wednesday. The carjackers also ran over her with her own car, a red Hyundai Accent, as they sped away.
According to Regis, the suspects did not appear to be after high-end cars since they targeted Teano’s sedan. “But the Accent was a brand new car with only a conduction sticker,” he said, noting that the vehicle could be easily resold.
