Cop killed in eatery rob try

MANILA, Philippines - A policeman was killed during an attempted robbery of an eatery in Taguig City Wednesday night.

Police Officer 1 Venerado Pantino, 28, a member of the National Capital Region Police Public Safety Battalion, was in his friend’s eatery, Kusina ni Mommy, when two men declared a robbery at around 7 p.m.

Suspect Michael Manansala and Pantino shot at each other. Pantino died while undergoing treatment at the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital, while Manasala is confined at the Philippine General Hospital.

Robbery and murder charges are being readied against Manansala, police said.
