6 hurt in Makati mishap
MANILA, Philippines - Six persons were slightly injured after a Laguna-bound bus they were riding slammed into a concrete post in the Ayala Tunnel along EDSA in Makati City yesterday afternoon.
According to Reggie Sanchez, a member of the MMDA’s Roadside Emergency Rescue Team, Ma. Angeline Ibarra, Rosa Cruz, Norma Querubin, Tirso San Juan, Pricila Almario and Rose Camille Danden were rushed to the Ospital ng Makati.
The MMDA said Jimmy Sumera was driving an HM Transport bus (DXS-472) along EDSA at about 2:09 p.m. when he tried to avoid a Jam Transit bus (TYG-382) stalled along the tunnel’s southbound lane and hit the post instead. The Jam bus’ brakes had locked, according to the MMDA.
Sumera is being investigated by the MMDA as the damaged HM bus was also impounded at the MMDA headquarters. According to the MMDA’s Metrobase, buses with provincial routes are allowed to use the Ayala Tunnel.
