Doctor loses P.2 M to burglars

- Jerry Botial -

MANILA, Philippines - A doctor lost cash and valuables worth around P200,000 yesterday after burglars broke into her house in Paso de Blas, Valenzuela City while she and her family were away.

Police said Dr. Leonora de los Santos-Demiar, 38, told police among the items the burglars had taken were groceries, lotions and perfumers, a laptop, jewelry, a digital camera, two digital video cameras, and a power saver.

Demiar and her family went to Gapan, Nueva Ecija province on Saturday, leaving the house in the care of their housemaid, Cresilda Bautista, 16.

Bautista told investigators that when she woke up yesterday morning, she discovered that the kitchen door was open and some items were missing.

Police said the victim did not consider her maid a suspect in the incident. The burglars remain unidentified.
