Woman shot in Quiapo
MANILA, Philippines - An unidentified woman, believed to be a native of Mindanao, was shot dead in the Islamic Center in Quiapo, Manila Sunday night.
The victim, who was estimated to be at least 25 years old, was discovered lying on the pavement beside the Echague building along Palanca street at past 7 p.m. with a gunshot wound in the head. She was clad in a green malong, a traditional attire in Mindanao. Police declared her dead on spot.
Police said the bullet entered below her right ear and went out through her chin. A .45 caliber shell was found near her body.
Residents told police they heard a gunshot shortly before the discovery of the body, but nobody apparently witnessed the shooting.
Police believe that the unsolved killings may be connected to the illegal drug trade.
