Caloocan to provide cops with 100 handheld radios

MANILA, Philippines - The Caloocan City government will provide its police officers with 100 handheld radios so they would be able to better monitor the peace and order situation in the city’s 188 barangays.

Mayor Enrico Echiverri said the new communication equipment would ensure that the cops would have quicker access to information “regarding the goings-on in the city.”

Earlier, the city government also provided 100 handheld radios to security guards of different subdivisions in the city for improved coordination with the police.

The city government is boosting the crime-fighting capability of its police force, particularly in city’s north side, where there is an acute shortage of police officers.

The mayor also tasked Liga ng mga Barangay president Ricojudge Echiverri to urge barangay leaders to cooperate with the local government and the police in the campaign against crime.
