Garbage collector shot dead

Manila, Philippines - A garbage collector was shot and killed by an intruder who broke into their family’s house in Quezon City while he was asleep before dawn yesterday.

Police Officer 2 Loreto Tigno identified the victim as Robert Villanueva, 24, a resident of Barangay Payatas.

According to the victim’s mother, Rosita, she and her husband were asleep in their bedroom when she was awakened by gunshots she heard coming from her son’s room at around 4 a.m. She rushed to Robert’s room and found him on his bed, with a gunshot wound in the head.

Robert died on the spot. Police remain clueless as to the identity of the suspect and the motive behind the attack.
