Manila, Philippines - The Department of Health (DOH) lauded the local government of Caloocan, which is National Capital Region’s (NCR) top performer in its ongoing anti-measles campaign, Caloocan City Mayor Enrico “Recom” Echiverri said yesterday.
Echiverri said the “Ligtas Tigdas” campaign in the city has seen the vaccination of 230,400 children between April 4 and May 4. The program was extended until May 30 to meet the 274,000 (children) target set by the local government.
The local health department said some 95 percent of the city’s young population is now safe from the threat of measles, which is still considered a deadly disease.
