Korean woman, Pinoy found dead in Manila hotel
MANILA, Philippines - The bloodied bodies of a Korean woman and a Filipino man were found in a hotel room in Ermita, Manila late Tuesday afternoon.
Police said Kim Jing-jun, 23, a student of Philippine Women’s University, sustained a bullet wound in the nape; while Emmanuel Andrew Monteagudo, 26, had a gunshot wound below his right ear.
Their bodies were discovered by the staff of the hotel along Pedro Gil street at past 2:30 p.m. The couple checked in at the hotel Monday afternoon.
Hotel employees told police they knocked on the door of the couple’s room to notify them on their checkout, but received no reply. They forced the door open, and found the lights turned off and the television set and air conditioner running.
The couple’s naked bodies were on the bed, and a .25 caliber pistol was recovered near them. Police said there were no signs of a struggle in the room.
The Korean embassy is assisting the Manila Police District in the ongoing investigation.
