QC cop ambushed at car shop
MANILA, Philippines - A Quezon City policeman was ambushed while he was having his vehicle fixed yesterday afternoon.
Senior Police Officer 3 Arnold Yu, 46, died on the spot after being shot in the head along Visayas Avenue.
Superintendent Audie Madrideo, commander of the Quezon City Police District Station 2, said there were four assailants involved in the attack. He said the attackers were on two motorcycles that have yet to be identified as of press time.
A witness told The STAR she saw two men approach Yu and take away his bag, whose contents are still not known. Madrideo said there was a commotion, and the victim may have attempted to fight off the two men but was shot by another attacker on another motorcycle.
Witnesses talked to The STAR and said they initially heard four gunshots.
Another witness said he also heard more shots, indicating that there might have been a gun battle between the victim and his assailants.
Crime scene investigators said the victim might have already been wounded when he attempted to fight off his assailants, based on accounts by some witnesses who said the victim was initially near the passenger seat before he fell behind his Toyota vehicle. The right glass window on the passenger seat was also shattered, apparently by a bullet.
