MANILA, Philippines - The Makati City prosecutor’s office said yesterday it has set the first hearing of the preliminary investigation of the murder charges against three policemen who allegedly shot dead a 13-year-old boy scavenging for scrap metal at an abandoned building last May 9.
The first hearing of the case against Chief Inspector Angelo Germinal, former commander of the Police Community Precinct 5, and his men PO3 Robert Rinion and PO1 Nicolas Apostol Jr. will be on May 23.
Witnesses tagged Germinal as the one who shot Christian Serrano in the back.
The National Capital Region Police Office, however, will push through with summary dismissal proceedings against the three policemen despite reports of an ongoing “out of court settlement,” NCRPO director Chief Superintendent Alan Purisima said.
The STAR gathered that the three policemen are reportedly offering P350,000 for Serrano’s parents to drop the charges.
