Burglars take P1.7-M valuables, padlock from QC house

- Reinir Padua -

MANILA, Philippines -  Police are investigating a burglary in Quezon City wherein the perpetrators not only took P1.7 million in cash and valuables but also ran away with the lock to the house’s gate.

Businessman Manuel Go reported to the police that the incident happened at his house in Barangay Sangandaan on Sunday.

Case investigator Senior Police Officer 2 Christopher Ronquillo said the stolen items included cash worth P1.5 million, a .22 caliber pistol, a diamond ring, a Navy ring, pieces of jewelry, three laptop computers and a license card.

Based on an initial investigation, Go and his cousin left the house at around 10 a.m. to have lunch and came back at around 2 p.m. the same day. He discovered the padlock on the gate was missing, and the front door was unlocked.

The businessman immediately went to check his belongings and found that the knob of the door to his office had been destroyed and items kept inside were already missing. Ronquillo noted that Go’s safety vault was forced open.

Go’s neighbor saw a silver Toyota Innova, whose license plates were not noted, parked in front of the house at around 1 p.m.
