MANILA, Philippines -  A three-month old baby girl was rescued unharmed in Cagayan eight days after she was abducted by a friend of her mother in Pasig City last week.

Chief Superintendent Samuel Pagdilao Jr., director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, said baby Jillian Crystal Jugos has been reunited with her mother Dialen.

Pagdilao said the suspect Lanie Francisco, 41, of Angcaoay Al-Alinao Sur, Naguilan, La Union, was arrested yesterday at Barangay Poblacion, Luna, Apayao. She was with her live-in-partner Abelardo Gabriel.

Senior Superintendent Ronald Estilles of the CIDG-Anti-Organized Crime Division, said Dialen of 6041 Hawaii St., Villa Raymundo, Nagpayong Centenial II, Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City sought police assistance after Francisco abducted her baby last May 6.

Estilles said Francisco was able to get the baby since the suspect was a friend of Dialen’s sister. Dialen told probers that the suspect had for several times borrowed her baby. However, on May 6, the suspect borrowed baby Jillian again but did not return, prompting her to seek help.

Authorities later traced the victim and the suspects in Abulug, Cagayan Valley.

Estilles said Francsico confessed that she decided to abduct the baby since she had miscarriage several months ago without the knowledge of her live-in partner. However, she felt pressured to produce a baby when her lover asked her about their baby.

Pagdilao said appropriate charges will be filed against the suspects before the Pasig City Prosecutor’s Office.
