Navotas government workers to get midyear bonus before school opening
MANILA, Philippines - The Navotas City government is facilitating the immediate release of the midyear bonus of its 1,240 workers in time for the opening of classes next month.
Mayor John Rey Tiangco said the early release of the employees’ bonus would allow them to have enough funds for their children’s enrolment and other expenses for the coming school year. “We want to help the city hall employees avoid the school opening rush and to cope with the expected increase in the prices of school supplies as the opening of classes draws near,” Tiangco said.
Catalina Furo, acting human resource management officer, said they have already directed concerned offices to prepare vouchers, payrolls and other papers for the early release of the workers’ bonus.
Tiangco also directed city police chief Senior Superintendent Florendo Quibuyen to reactivate measures for the safe and orderly opening of classes next month.
The city engineering office has already started the clearing of waterways near the schools while the city health department has also reactivated their own programs to protect school children from illnesses, especially during the rainy days. The city health office urged parents to immediately inform their respective barangay anti-dengue teams any reports of the disease for “quick and positive” action.
