FDA: Return salmonella-tainted noodles
MANILA, Philippines - The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) asked the public yesterday to immediately return Maggi Rich Mami Noodles products as these were found to contain traces of salmonella.
In an advisory, FDA director Dr. Suzette Lazo commended Nestle Philippines for implementing a voluntary recall of Maggi Rich Mami Noodles beef and chicken flavors across the country after a routine test found traces of salmonella in two batches of the beef flavor noodles. Nestle said the two batches have the lot codes 110205982A2 and 11030598A1.
“In view of the foregoing, consumers, who have purchased the said products, are advised to return the same to Nestle Philippines,” the advisory stated.
According to Nestle Philippines, concerned products may be returned to the Nestle Center at 31 Plaza Drive, Rockwell Center in Makati City or to any of its licensed distributors.
Consumers may also call Nestle hotlines at 898-0061 (Metro Manila) and 1-800-100-637853 (provinces).
Nestle clarified that they have not yet received any consumer concerns as a result of the consumption of the affected noodles. “The product is safe to eat if the cooking instructions are followed,” the firm said. – Sheila Crisostomo, Ma. Elisa Osorio
